The problem with deposits

When run on regular fuels, an engine experiences carbon build-up as the miles are racked up. In more conventional port-fuel-injected petrol engines, deposits can form on the inlet valves, while in more modern direct injection petrol engines and diesel engines, harmful deposits can form on the fuel injectors too.

Deposits that form on inlet valves can soak up some of the fuel before it reaches the combustion chamber. Shell V-Power’s cleaning agents work to reduce these performance robbing deposits and help to prevent them recurring. When deposits form on the fuel injector, they can impact how fuel is injected into the combustion chamber - just as limescale deposits may build up in a shower head, reducing water pressure and performance.

Shell V-Power contains special cleaning molecules. From the first tankful, these molecules begin to clean the inlet valves and fuel injectors of these harmful deposits, which gradually cleans away to be harmlessly burned within the combustion chamber. Launched in 1998, Shell V-Power is continuously under development to benefit the customer filling up at the forecourt. Shell’s motorsport activities are part of the R&D puzzle, most notably its work in Formula 1. Shell supplies several teams on the grid, including Scuderia Ferrari, with which it has a special partnership which goes all the way back to the twenties.
